Steven C Fulop, M.D., MBA, FAANS

Steven C Fulop, M.D., MBA, FAANSBoard certified neurosurgeon Dr. Steven C. Fulop specializes in cranial conditions and specific spine disorders. He also has specialized expertise in the use of advanced surgical technologies for the performance of Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery.

His educational journey began at Ohio Wesleyan University Graduating Magna Cum Laude in Biochemistry leading to a Medical Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.  Shortly after completing medical school, Dr. Fulop completed Master of Science degree in Applied Anatomy while completing his residency training in Neurological Surgery at University Hospitals of Cleveland.

Dr. Fulop’s clinical specialty involves the use of technology for improving surgical outcomes.  He is a regular faculty member at physician education conferences on the use of minimally invasive spinal procedures, neuro-navigation and the use of stem cell technologies.  His experience has been tapped by top medical device companies for business development, product design and medical education.  In 2013, Dr. Fulop had the honor of being selected as the lead design surgeon for Stryker’s LITe plating system.  Approximately 1% of industry consultants are selected as a lead.  These experiences inspired Dr. Fulop to augment his medical education with a Master’s of Business Administration from CWRU’s Weatherhead School of Management in Cleveland, Ohio which was completed in 2016.

Dr. Fulop worked for University Hospitals of Cleveland for 8 years serving as Section Chief of Neurosurgery at affiliate hospital Southwest General Medical Center, a level 3 trauma center in Middleburg Hts, OH.  He was actively involved in the Trauma Committee, Medical Executive Committee, Strategic Planning Committee and was the Chairman of Surgical Quality Improvement Committee.  He also served as the Director of the Neurologic Institute at Southwest General.

In his youth, Dr. Fulop enjoyed physical and mental challenges as a division 3 collegiate soccer player for a very competitive Ohio Wesleyan team that he helped to the NCAA final four in his freshman and sophomore years.  He has trained locally and in Japan on traditional Japanese martial arts.  He has recently joined the US Army Reserves (Pending) as a (Major or Lieutenant Colonel) to seek additional leadership challenges and to serve his country.
