What Do Doctors Think About Before Cervical Spine Surgery? Watch Video Now
Kyphoplasty is a relatively common procedure used in the treatment of compression fractures of the spine. In this video Dr. Shah explains the procedure.
Imagine having had a recent fall, a coughing spell, or any kind of activity that resulted in significant mid to low back pain. You may be diagnosed with a vertebral compression fracture especially if you suffer from osteoporosis. What we used to do is to brace these patients and they would have to avoid activity for quite a while. You can imagine, that would not make a patient very happy.
Advances in medical technology have resulted in a minimally invasive procedure called kyphoplasty. This procedure is used to treat vertebral compression fractures by injecting orthopedic cement into the fractured vertebrae. We have considerable experience with these techniques and excellent outcomes.
